Overhead Scrag
The Overhead Scrag mill is designed to handle logs up to 24 in diameter and 16 feet long with just one man needed to operate the mill. Utilizing three dimensional scanners, the logs are scanned and then a cutting profile is loaded into the computer. The computer controlled log positioner (which can be set to cut cants 4 12 wide) automatically centers the logs, so the operator merely has to roll the log into position and press the centering button. The computer then takes over and centers the log, dogs it, and from profiles chosen by the operator, it sets the saws to maximize yield. The Overhead Scrag is available with 44, 48 or 56 diameter saws, which produces four sided cants ranging in size from 3.5 x 3.5 to 16 x 16.
Another version of the Overhead Scrag is the Overhead Twin Band mill. The 10 wide bands, which ride on 64 wheels, maximize recovery due to the thinner kerf of the bands. It can handle logs from 8 to 16 feet in length and up to 28 in diameter. The Cooper Machine setwork and profiling system is also included along with a climate controlled Operators cab.
